Emotional eating trajectories following metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS): Associations with 5-year weight loss outcomes

Dr. Marilou Côté, MD

Marilou Côté obtained her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Université Laval in 2017. Following her graduation, she served as a research coordinator at the Centre d’expertise poids, image et alimentation (CEPIA) of Université Laval for 5 years. She then pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at Concordia University in the Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Applied Physiology from 2022 to 2024. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at Université Laval in the Département des fondements et pratiques en éducation, where she is part of the psychoeducation team. She is a regular researcher at the Centre Nutrition, Santé et Société (NUTRISS) at Université Laval. Dr. Côté also has an active clinical practice as a clinical psychologist at CEPIA of Université Laval, where she sees patients with eating disorders and/or who have received or are preparing to undergo bariatric surgery. Her research interests include psychosocial aspects of obesity, weight stigma, and eating behaviors.
