Dr. Ann Rogers is the Director of the Penn State Health Surgical Weight Loss Program. She is a Professor of Surgery at the Penn State College of Medicine and Vice Chair for Leadership and Professional Development for the Penn State Hershey Medical Center Department of Surgery. Dr. Rogers graduated from Cornell University with a double major in Spanish and Biology. She then attended Cornell University Medical College. She completed a residency in General Surgery at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City, where she served as Associate Director of Critical Care, and as the General Surgery Residency Program Director. Dr. Rogers has been a practicing general surgeon since 1992 and after returning to do a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Penn State in 2006-2007, has focused her practice in metabolic and bariatric surgery. She has published and presented her work extensively, with over 150 peer-reviewed publications as well as innumerable abstracts, book chapters and invited presentations. She is known nationally and internationally as a thought leader in metabolic and bariatric surgery and has won numerous teaching and patient care awards. She is the current President-Elect of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
