Dr. Sylvain Iceta, MD, PhD

Dr. Iceta is a psychiatrist and researcher in neuroscience and nutrition. He comes from Lyon, France, where he worked at the University Hospital as a referral psychiatrist for the Integrated Obesity Center and the Referral Center for Eating Disorders. Throughout his career, he has been trained in various approaches such as cognitive and behavioral therapies, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and mindfulness.
Dr. Iceta is now an Associate Professor at the Quebec Heart and Lung Research Centre, Université Laval. His research program is aimed at gaining a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in a particularly common subtype of multimorbidity: co-occurring mental and physical disorders. His work aims to better characterize patients with physical-mental multimorbidity and to identify the biological factors involved in this association. Recent work has focused on obesity, bariatric surgery, eating disorders including binge eating disorder, and diabetes.
