Welcome from the President

Dear Colleague and Friend,

It is with great pleasure as the President of the Canadian Association of Bariatric Physicians and Surgeons (CABPS) that I welcome you to our annual conference Canadian Obesity Weekend held in conjunction with IFSO North American Chapter in Montréal, Quebec.  The date has finally arrived, and I am extremely excited about this outstanding educational event.  So much work has been undertaken to choose outstanding topics and speakers while trying to meet all the educational diverse needs of our attendees.  I am sure the conference will be an outstanding success.
The curriculum will discuss controversies in bariatric care, address the hottest topic currently about the best treatment option for class 1 obesity, highlight the intersection of Cardiology and Obesity, tackle medical and allied health care concerns, present challenging surgical videos, evaluate SADI-DS, digest the concept of nutrition in obesity and explore interventions adjuvant to bariatric and metabolic surgery.

Please do not miss the CABPS Distinguished Service Award this year being presented to Dr. Michael Vallis.

Aside from all this work we cannot ignore all the fun that this weekend has to offer.  Join us for our Wine and Cheese Reception in the Exhibit Hall and the Fun Night Out where you can congregate with friends and colleagues to catch up on each one’s latest and greatest news.  Continue to join us on X, formerly Twitter, and follow us closely and tweet your heart out using the hashtag #CABPS2024.

My sincerest appreciation is extended to the Conference Committee and to our Board of Directors for their ongoing support, dedication and hard work provided to CABPS as well as all the large number of committee members.  In addition, my heart felt gratitude is also extended to our sponsors, without whom our association would not be able to offer this and other educational programs throughout the year to our health care professionals dedicated to the treatment of those living with overweight and obesity.

Please enjoy the weekend!

With warm regards,

Stephen A. Glazer, MD, FRCPC, FCCP, FAASM
